removal of iron in e traction of copper

publicly reply to James Watts's post ^. 2003. A. Iron plating of solder iron tips is still the best finish. Electroless nickel is used for de-soldering. Iron is also plated from an HCl, ferrous chloride solution at 90 °C plating. Not a nice solution to have in a shop.

It can also form Iron (III) nitrate or ferric nitrate. The chemical equation is: 2Fe + 3Cu(NO3)2 → 2Fe(NO3)3 + 3Cu (Here, Fe is Iron and Cu is Copper.) After some hours, you will see that copper mud layer will come on the iron piece. You can remove this copper mud separately or leave it in the solution.

The conventional method for controlling the iron concentration has been to periodically or continuously bleed a portion of the iron-rich, copper-depleted electrolyte from the circuit and replace it with copper-rich electrolyte solution. In the copper electrowinning process, lead based alloys are used as anodes.

We can extract the iron by reacting the iron oxide with a more reactive element. The more reactive element takes away the oxygen. The raw materials are Haematite (iron ore), Coke (impure C), Limestone (CaCO 3) Make a strong reducing agent C + O 2 → CO 2 CO 2 + C → 2CO Reduce the iron 3. Fe 2 O 3 + 3CO → 2Fe + 3CO 2 Remove impurities 4.

The carbon monoxide REDUCES the iron oxide in the ore, into molten iron which flows to the bottom of the furnace. Limestone is added to remove acidic impurities forming a molten slag which floats on top of the iron. The carbon monoxide combines with oxygen from the iron ore to produce carbon dioxide. This is called OXIDATION.

Hydrometallurgical copper recovery can be conveniently considered in two stages: the leaching stage, in which the various forms of copper in the ore are placed into an aqueous solution, and the recovery stage, where dissolved copper is recovered as solid, nearly pure copper metal ready for fabrication or final smelting ...

Smelting is used for metals like silver, iron, copper and other base metals. In copper smelting, concentrate ore is strongly heated with silica or silicon dioxide, calcium carbonate (. C a C O 3. ) and air in a furnace. The major steps in extraction of copper are as given below: 1. Copper in Chalcopyrite is reduced to copper sulphide.

In the extraction of copper from copper pyrites, iron will be removed as FeSiO3 F e S i O 3 which is the slag. Therefore the correct answer is option B. Note: Do not get confused with the difference between the ore and minerals involved in the metallurgy. The ore is the mineral from which the metal can be extracted easily and economically.
